A Bo Derek Schmozzle?

Those attendees at this morning's SAC meeting that remember who Bo Derek is managed to stifle a laugh during the confusion.
Confusion wholly created by Greater Vernon Water officials.

Picture this:
You are given a form and tasked with evaluating a bunch of options detailed on the form.
Nearly two weeks after being given the form on which all the options are listed, there's an instructional email from GVW that asks you to rate the options (lower case) in order...from one to nine, with "1 being the best, and 9 being the least acceptable!"  (Not to be confused with Master Water Plan OPTIONS (upper case) 1 through 9!)

Enter the Bo Derek Schmozzle.
Bo Derek starred in the pre-80's film "10", succinctly evidencing she was a 10 out of 10 on the oft-accepted scale of female beauty.

One SAC member stated he had rated his most valuable item a 9...
Probably because he was old enough to recall that Bo Derek was a 10.
Oooops....

Back to the SAC meeting where numerous members voiced their confusion in trying to match personal values to not only the major water plan options 1 through 9, but also of the independent, subjective "nice-to-haves"--as Zee Marcolin put it in a valiant effort in explaining the format--relating to the numerous items under four major headings.

Between McTaggart and Marcolin, the explanation was made that the rating "1" is at the bottom of the scale compared to the highest rating of "9" (the opposite of what their instructional email had indicated).

Believe me, you don't even want to see the form!

A most important factor was realized today as even the consultant indicated "I wouldn't have done it that way" in explaining the ratings.

Focus groups!
One SAC member reminded GVW that the long-promised focus groups should have been convened prior to this.
And he was right.

This sign should be on Greater Vernon Water's door...

"That wasn't all that was wrong with this morning," stated Kia, adding "the waste of time could've been entirely prevented had GVW actually put some thought into both their instructions on how to complete the form and what the form contained."

Maybe the phrase non-cost considerations should've been changed to "Nice to Have".

Presto, clarity.
Even Bo Derek would've understood that.
