Occasionally, technology disappoints.
A change to our 3-controller (irrigation timeclocks) proves my point.
When the golf course was built 18 years ago, three Hunter timeclocks were installed to run the system.
Today, two of the original Hunter ICC controllers remain, but the third was damaged by an electrical storm about 5 or 6 years ago and needed replacing. A new Hunter controller, a Hunter I-CORE, was purchased and programmed.

No "seasonal adjust" Quick buttons on the new controller! |

Yes, the newer controller doesn't have that wonderful feature!
The one-step, Seasonal Adjust buttons on the older Hunter Controller, up or down, increase or decrease percentages for irrigation times.
Sure, there's a way to get into the new clock's program to adjust percentages, (at least I think I found it once), but it's not often found "in the guts" of the program, and leads to frustration at where to look next.
So why did Hunter choose/opt to change their design/function when they issued the new I-CORE version? Did any Hunter bosses / engineers / technicians actually talk to users to see if the Seasonal Adjust button would be missed if it were removed from the top left of panel?
And whose decision was it that Seasonal Adjust was no longer a meaningful tool for their update?
"Provide a name and address, so I can airmail them some cactus," Kia would've said.
Thank goodness I still have the two older versions of the controllers.
Technological changes don't always have merit.
But the only constant appears to be change...some without any apparent reason...to users anyway!
