No kidding.
And that's not all.
Repainting the front doors is projected to cost $35,000, with yet a further $35,000 required to paint windows. Then another $30,000 to extend the reception counter.
"The expectation is that bar service will increase," said Tannis Nelson of the Regional District of North Okanagan.
The RDNO isn't known for being frugal (unlike private industry), but here's an idea: Monashee's Bar and Grill downtown has announced its permanent closure, with the owner citing the area as "...a tough market for a restaurant" among overhead issues such as the cost of food and labour.
So how about buying the lovely liquor bar from Monashee's, RDNO?
Save some money while helping a distressed private owner recoup some of his substantial start-up costs.
Think like an owner, RDNO, instead of like a public utility that simply reaches deeper into taxpayer pockets to fund its projects.
Save yourself the millwork and carpentry costs.
"Maybe buy Monashee's doors and windows too," offers Kia.
Seventy thousand to paint doors and windows.
