Grandson at Sadok

Without a doubt, it's the little kids that steal the show in any performance.
And our grandson had some good friends as company in the production on Sunday.

Ready to put on a performance!  Our little man, aged 5, is 4th from the left.

The Performing Arts Centre was the venue, and the Sadok (meaning Orchard in Ukrainian) dancers put on a great show.

Grandson, fifth seated child from left, hopefully isn't stifling a yawn!

And a huge grin on his face for the group photo.  Grandson is fifth from left.

Plus....ta da....

There's a very comical YouTube version of the little kids' "antics" during their performance.

Cleanup Time!

Does it seem to anyone else that project tasks get put off for so long that we eventually forget they're on the list?

Yup.
Sometimes.

OK, maybe not National...but Highlands Golf cleaned up an eyesore today.

But today we finally got around to installing concrete block bunkers around the sand storage area east of the parking lot.

Ken and Craig (and helper) from OK Building Centres did a great job today.

Craig is working the crane controls

Nice to get that job done...finally.

One item off the To Do list.

The Deficit Disease

Yup, it's a disease.
Politicians of all stripes are responsible for "buying votes" with promises, some of which are kept, some aren't.

But the point is this:  by the time a new party achieves power--and presumably has more access to "the books" than when they were in opposition--they're loathe to renege on promises because voters have a very good short-term memory.

So they rely on deficits.
But many voters think deficits should be illegal.
And I'm one of them.

Read this:

"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," the famous Warren Buffett told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee (from an email) to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

The example was the U.S.A.
But deficits aren't uncommon in Canada.

In three days, most people in Canada will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Let's adjust this for Canada
*Parliamentary Reform Act
1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Member of Parliament collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Members of Parliament (past, present & future) participate in the Canadian Pension Plan. All funds in the Parliamentary retirement fund move to the CPP system immediately. All future funds flow into the CPP system, and Parliament participates with the Canadian people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Members of Parliament can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Canadians do.

4. Members of Parliament will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Parliamentary pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Members of Parliament must equally abide by all laws they impose on the Canadian people.

6. All contracts with past and present Members of Parliament are void effective immediately. The Canadian people did not make this contract with Members of Parliament. Members of Parliament made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Parliament is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their terms, then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the Canada) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX PARLIAMENT!!!!!

Oh...and yes, get rid of Justin Trudeau!

Thank you, Mr. Buffett!

Trust Eroding for T2

Another reason for our suspicion surrounding Trudeau et al.
And a good one at that.

Judge for yourself...is he looking after Canada and Canadians' interests?

"Before Pierre Elliot Trudeau entered politics, his family owned Champlain Oil and the  L'Aigle ‎D'Or (Golden Eagle) gas stations in Easter Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.  ‎Sweet crude from Saudi Arabia was shipped to KC Irving refineries in the Maritimes, and sold through Trudeau's firm. He had to divest himself of those assets into a 'blind trust' to be in politics.

Ships carrying oil from the Middle East ‎still come to Canada, and unload at the Irving refineries for refining.  Gasoline and fuel oil still flow from the Irving refineries. Trudeau and Quebec still profit handsomely from a deal made with Saudi Arabia.

And that is why Trudeau and Quebec resist building a pipeline from Western Canada to the Maritimes. Trudeau is the Prime Minister of Canada, but he resists doing what is good and right for Canadians, but he willing enriches his family's portfolio.

Without a doubt, these assets are still in the family portfolio, and ‎affects young Trudeau’s actions on  oil in Eastern Canada.

Bringing oil from Alberta would adversely affect his family's income."

Maxine for Prime Minister

Every now and then, it's time for a bit of levity ...

THIS IS THE BEST MAXINE EVER !
                                         RIGHT ON MAXINE!!!
This is the best analogy yet!
Leave it to Maxine to come up with a solution   for the mess that America/Canada/Australia/NZ is now in economically.

I bought a bird feeder.  I hung it
on my back porch and filled it
with seed. What a beauty of
a bird feeder it was, as I filled it
lovingly   with seed.
Within a week we had hundreds of birds
taking advantage of the
continuous flow of free and
easily accessible food.

But then the birds started
building nests in the boards
of the patio, above the table,
and next to the barbecue.

Then came the shit. It was
everywhere: on the patio tile,
the chairs, the table ........
everywhere!

Then some of the birds
turned mean. They would
dive bomb me and try to
peck me even though I had
fed them out of my own
pocket.

And others birds were
boisterous and loud. They
sat on the feeder and
squawked and screamed at
all hours of the day and night
and demanded that I fill it
when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn't even
sit on my own back porch
anymore. So I took down the
bird feeder and in three days
the birds were gone. I cleaned
up their mess and took down
the many nests they had built
all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like
it used to be ..... quiet, serene....
and no one demanding their
rights to a free meal.

Now let's see......
Our government gives out
free food, subsidized housing,
free medical care and free
education, and allows anyone
born here to be an automatic
citizen.  Lots of “freeloaders” are born Canadians!

Then the illegals came by the
tens of thousands. Suddenly
our taxes went up to pay for
free services; small apartments
are housing 5 families; you
have to wait 6 hours to be seen
by an emergency room doctor;
Your child's second grade class is
behind other schools because
over half the class doesn't speak
English.

Corn Flakes now come in a
bilingual box; I have to
'press one ' to hear my bank
talk to me in English, and
people waving flags other
than "ours" are
squawking and screaming
in the streets, demanding
more rights and free liberties.

Just my opinion, but maybe
it's time for the government
to take down the bird feeder.

If you agree, pass it on; if not,
just continue cleaning up the shit!

White Collar Crimes Go Unpunished

...except maybe for the humiliation and embarrassment.
But that was self-imposed because of their nefarious deeds.

We're talking about British Columbia's legislature scandal which Speaker Darryl Plecas exposed.
A disgusting and criminal (we think) twosome of senior officials in the Victoria legislature who both benefitted from unnecessary and unsanctioned expense account claims and unnecessary trips on the public purse.

Craig James and Gary Lenz are both proven by Speaker Plecas to have profited.
But in a strange twist, it was reported that Sergeant-at-Arms Gary Lenz did not violate the terms of his employment, although he remains suspended with pay.

It was reported that Craig James "abruptly retired Thursday following the release of a report supporting allegations of misconduct against him".  In addition, James himself approved a 2012 retirement benefit that awarded him $257,988 during that year.  But he didn't retire in 2012.

The Province newspaper headline was "Ex-legislature clerk can retire without returning money".

So...what do we teach our children about this?

Obviously nothing.
We teach them wrong from right, decency versus immoral acts.
And then the Legislature scandal comes along.

Greg James and Gary Lenz should be in prison...and sued by the public.

And there's more.

Money-laundering is making the news nightly, and in particular how prevalent it has been (and perhaps still is) relating to the RiverRock Casino in Richmond, with ties to real estate and luxury cars.

And no-one could be happier than Ross Alderson, the former director of anti-money laundering investigations for the B.C. Lottery Corp.  He's apparently "pleased a public inquiry has been called, and he's anxious to testify, as he 'had a front-row seat,' the whistleblower added.

That is good news, but maybe not for the B.C. Liberals, who turned numerous blind eyes away from what was readily apparent to even a 10 year old.

What is heartening is that both Ross Alderson and Speaker Darryl Plecas are former RCMP officers, obviously both dedicated to law and order.  And they are to be congratulated.

I bet both Plecas and Alderson are disgusted that white collar criminals generally don't spend much time -- if any -- in jail.

So is British Columbia chock full of white collar criminals?
It appears they have made the province their homebase.

Hilarious Port-a-Potty

Spotted this set-up at the Fruit Union plaza this morning.
Obviously a commercial business is doing some renovations.

The second photo provides the hilarious close-up look.

At first glance, nothing's amiss...

Look closer...

I laughed all the way home...
