Who will light the Olympic Cauldron at B.C. Place tonight?

My guess is Dr. Roberta Bondar, Canadian astronaut.

We were all incorrect...
Torch bearers at B.C. Place were Rick Hanson (Man in Motion), Catriona LeMay Doan, Nancy Green Raine, Steve Nash and Wayne Gretzky.  The indoor cauldron was lit.

Wayne Gretzky then rode to the outdoor cauldron and lit it among cheers from onlookers.

It was a great opening ceremony...Congratulations Vancouver!

  1. I think it should be David Suzuki. He's a Canadian icon...

  2. Totally weird as it may sound...Barack Obama. Just a gut reaction, since Wayne Gretzky's been ruled out!

  3. Gotta be Terry Fox's Mom, he will be in the holagram holding the torch, and when it is time to light it, Mrs Fox will do the actual lighting.
So what did I win Barb?

  4. Barb!! we need a new thread on who's going to win the U.S./Canada hockey game tonight...currently Crosby just scored and it's 4-3 for the Americans...

Of course my guess is Canada, but there's only 2 minutes left in the game...not likely

  5. The way the U.S. was playing, and with only 2 minutes left in the game, that empty Canadian net was not good. Heck, we bumped into ourselves when we had 5 men on the ice, why on earth would we want 6?

I assuage my disappointment by telling myself "they're ALL Canadians."

    They are!
