This Millennial Brings Hope

Because I would write him a letter of sincere thanks.

A young law student is reported to have written this.

I'll leave it to you to see if you would sign the letter too:

"DIVORCE AGREEMENT
Dear Canadian liberals, leftists, B.C. social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Castro supporters, et al:

We have stuck together for 150 years for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.
Our two ideological sides of Canada cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

HERE IS OUR SEPARATION AGREEMENT:
Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a similar portion. We will settle for less landmass if we get the right portion, which must include Alberta & Saskatchewan.
That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy given the favouritism divide.

Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.
--We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You can also keep the Carbon Tax.
--You are welcome to the liberal judges, CUPE and UNIFOR.
--Since you hate guns, and war, we'll take our firearms, the police, and the military.
--We'll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and the coal mines, and you can go with wind, solar and biodiesel.
--You can keep Butts, Barbie, Shannon & Suzuki. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all four of them.
--We'll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, the farmers, Wal-Mart and the TSE.
--You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food vouchers, homeless, homeboys, hippies, druggies and illegal aliens.
--We'll keep the greedy CEO's and rednecks.
--You can have the peaceniks, the pipeline protesters, and anti-everything economically beneficial crowd.
-- When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide security.
--We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values.
--You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, peoplekind, political correctness and Mr Dress Up. You can also have our share of the U.N. We will no longer be paying any part of that bill.
--We'll keep the SUV's, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Volt, Tesla and Leaf you can find.
--You can give everyone free and regulated everything healthcare…. if you can find any practicing doctors.
--We'll keep "God Save the Queen" and "The Old National Anthem words."
--I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute "Imagine"or "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing", with "Kum Ba Ya" or "We Are the World".
--We'll practice trickle-down economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot.
--Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our language, the war memorials and the Queens picture.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like-minded liberals and socialists. And if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you might think about which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

Family Victimized for Seven Years

It's frankly unfathomable.

The Van Diest family of Armstrong--whose daughter Taylor was murdered on Hallowe'en night in 2011--has been tormented time and again since then by Canada's "justice" system.

Seven years this Fall.

And here we are today, June 6th, 2018, with the Morning Star's headline "Foerster gets life".

Seventeen years is life?
For a now-32 year-old killer?

"I'm just sick of feeling this torment, torture," said Taylor's mother Marie Van Diest.

Her 7 years of "exposure" to Canada's justice system--just barely less than half the final sentence of the criminal, Foerster--hasn't allowed the family to put behind them the horrific story of their daughter's death.

The criminal's defence attorney said the criminal "was under the influence of drugs and alcohol and had consumed vodka, beer, mushrooms and marijuana earlier that day."

So?
I don't care.
Neither do other people.

The Van Diest family doesn't care...because being high on drugs and alcohol is NOT an excuse...for any criminal behaviour!
It isn't in any way, shape or form justification for what the criminal did that Hallowe'en night.

And for Judge Brown to state that the criminal feels remorse?
Of course he's remorseful!
Because he was caught!

The defence attorney goes on to say that his client has "taken rehabilitative steps since the murder, including sobriety since his arrest, participates in AA and three correctional programs."

Sobriety?
Ya think? 
Of course!
Because booze isn't served in jail!
Of course he's sober now!

"Prime Minister Trudeau thinks the number one issue in Canada is to legalize marijuana," Kia would've said, adding "which simply indicates his children aren't subject to the same dangers as the rest of the population."

And let's hope Foerster's defence attorney--each night when he sits down to dinner with his family--looks at his children and prays silently that they're never victimized by Canada's justice system.


Because I'd bet he hates his profession...
At least I hope so.

"Don't be a sheeple"

This is likely a copyright violation because reprints aren't allowed.
But I'll ignore that because this blog isn't monetized...I have nothing to gain but to share an important opinion I read from the publisher/editor of Okanagan Life magazine.

It was his editorial "Paul's Voice" that awakened some of my long-felt feelings.
Maybe others will agree.


"It was March 19, 2003 and Operation Iraqi Freedom was 'shock and awing' prime-time television audiences all over the world.  Yes folks, this was it.  The USA's 24/7 news media was "fully embedded" with the troops and they were reporting the first ever made for TV, invasion of Iraq--live!  The news hawks, sparrows and dragonflies were perfectly outfitted in full battle fatigues, rooming with the troops, perched just outside of Bagdad(sic) overlooking the Tigress, reporting to you live and in colour, the first ever Super Bowl War.

I know this because 15 years ago, I penned an editorial in Okanagan Life titled, Positively Embarrassed (see Paul's Voice at okanaganlife.com)
I had watched the carefully choreographed violence unfold from my couch, on every station available.  I remember thinking that this coverage is astonishing, it's captivating, even scintillating.  How did the CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS and "Faux" news reporters find such perfect locations to witness and record this extraordinary bombardment?

It didn't matter to me because I was a sheeple.  I had also watched the news:  Saddam had "weapons of mass destruction," had gassed his own people and looted billions from his people.  He regularly held hands with Osama Bin Laden and he caused 9/11.  Case closed.

That year, I penned my editorial in condemnation of our Canadian prime minister for not supporting the invasion of Iraq, because I believed everything I was told.  Today, I praise Canada's current leader for staying out of an illegal war.

I made a mistake.  I believed all the Pentagon talking points that were vetted, rehearsed and broadcasted for the war-loving, shoot-em-up, gun-loving American citizens.  Everything Bush and Cheney said, did, rehearsed and orchestrated was a pack of lies.  There were no weapons of mass destruction; Saddam did not gas his people.  He didn't cause 9/11.

Can any one of us honestly say or think today that US leaders are leaders?  They are NOT leaders--they are psychopaths.  Noam Chomsky declares openly that all recent US presidents should be on trial for war crimes against humanity.  They all claim they're fighting for freedom and democracy, but that is an illusion.  The fight is for money and the endless wars that fill billionaires(sic) bank accounts to overflowing.

Do the math:  America has been at war for 94 per cent of its very existence.  Almost 80 per cent of all war-related sales, funnels through Wall Street, and flows to plutocrats.  The only thing that trickles down is fear.

Today, history is repeating.  Trump is bombing Syria, because (supposedly) Syria bombed Syria.  So, to warn Syria that they shouldn't bomb Syria, Trump bombs them.

Don't be like I was.  Updated your beliefs.  Read, learn, question, think and above all--emote.  Unconsciously, we all know how perverse the Pentagon, the White House and Wall Street has become.  Fifteen years and more than one million Iraquis are dead and no one held responsible.  Don't be a sheeple."

Misguided Politicos

Misguided?
Actually they're being totally absurd, asinine and idiotic.

Seems some Vernon councillors--during the reported growth of homelessness in our area, and the resulting increase in crime, as well as the issues many people's properties face during recent floods--are blathering on and on about Vernon's "Welcome" signs needing to have more colourful bases.

Huh?
More colourful concrete bases?

After they themselves approved the design (at only heaven knows what cost) several years ago?
It was reported the signs were 30 thousand dollars over budget.

Yup.

These people need to get over themselves and end their incessant pontificating.

And actually achieve something.
Anything but this nonsense about more colourful bases for the welcome signs.

"Perhaps Fall elections will thin out the herd of idiots," Kia would've said.

We can only hope...

Horgan the Hooligan

That's basically what he is...
The leader of B.C.'s government is indeed a troublemaker...a part of a gang.

I'll let Mike Smyth tell it...the story of B.C.'s (and Vancouver's) gas prices.
Because I'd use expletives if I tried to tell the story.

It’s always cringe-inducing to hear Premier John Horgan plead with the federal government to do something about soaring Metro Vancouver gas prices, the highest in North America.

Horgan was at it again Monday, blaming the feds for a lack of fuel-refining capacity in B.C.

“Let’s make more (refined gasoline) here, creating more jobs here and relieving the enormous pressure on the travelling public,” he said.

Say what? He’s worried about pressure on drivers? At the same time he jacks up the carbon tax on every litre of gas sold in B.C.?

Unbelievable.

The Horgan government increased the carbon tax on April 1, and it now stands at 7.78 cents per litre. On a typical 50-litre fill-up at a gas station, you’re now paying nearly four bucks in B.C. carbon tax alone.

The carbon tax used to be “revenue neutral” meaning the government was legally required to lower other taxes to offset it.

The NDP changed the law, and now the entire carbon tax flows directly into the coffers of government with no neutral offset required.

The provincial bite at the gas pump doesn’t end with the carbon tax.

There’s also the B.C. Transportation Financing Authority fuel tax of 6.75 cents a litre. And the general B.C. Motor Fuel Tax of 1.75 cents a litre.

Then in Metro Vancouver, you have the whopping TransLink fuel tax: another 17 cents a litre, or $8.50 per fill-up.

And now Horgan wants the federal government to ease your pain? Good grief.

Of course, the federal taxman has to get his piece of the action. So you also pay the federal fuel excise tax of 10 cents a litre.

The sour cherry on top is the five-per-cent federal GST, which is charged on top of your total gas purchase, including all the other taxes.

That’s right: You pay tax on your gas taxes.

Would refining more fuel in B.C. ease prices? Sure, but publishing tycoon David Black has been trying for six years now to get his refinery project off the ground with no success.

Now Horgan says he’s in talks with Washington Gov. Jay Inslee about expanding refinery capacity south of the border.

Yes, this is the same Washington state that refines million of barrels of diluted bitumen pumped through British Columbia from Alberta via the Kinder Morgan pipeline.

No wonder Horgan says he would continue to allow 22 million tonnes of bitumen to flow through B.C. a year, at the same time he says the stuff is dangerous to the environment and human health as he fights the pipeline’s expansion.

The hypocrisy — like the price at the pump — is breathtaking."

Oh...and I'd also like a DETAILED breakdown of where the Carbon Tax money goes.
Don't hold your breath waiting for that either!

 

Pipeline or No Pipeline

The B.C. government's stance closely resembles a Dumb and Dumber script.

This letter to the Vancouver Sun editor--by a resident of Seattle--was sent on April 18th, 2018.

"Thanks to the citizens of B.C.,

 who seem once again to have blocked

 an oil pipeline to the coast.

  Those of us living south of the border

 will continue to enjoy

 importing your oil at substantial discounts

 while exporting our oil

 from gulf ports at world-market prices.

  Your gift to us, around $100 million per day Canadian,

 is greatly appreciated.

  We marvel at your generosity while doubting your sanity.

  All of this will have zero impact on global climate, of course."

Sidenote:    It's interesting to note that the Cherry Point Refinery located 7 miles south of Blaine, currently gets Alberta crude from the branch line that runs from Abbotsford to the refinery.  There is signage around the refinery saying "Don't close Cherry Point - Save jobs".  I suspect without the $20-30 per bbl. discount they wouldn't be competitive as all of a sudden they'd have to pay market price for a portion of their feedstock.  They also get Alaska crude by tanker 7 miles south of the border which are not tethered bow and stern or accompanied by two tugs.  Currently they refine the Alberta crude and sell it back to BC.  That's why the Governor of the state is publicly supporting Horgan. 

You couldn't possibly make this stuff up.

Poor Bob

Bob Sattler is disgusted.
He's tired of cleaning up drug paraphernalia, needles and human excrement from behind his business, Hi-Pro Sports.

"But when he received a $100 fine from City of Vernon bylaw for leaving a shopping cart full of items at the Gateway Shelter, that was the last straw.
Sattler's business is a block away from the shelter. He said he often has some of the street-entrenched population set up camp on his property, making a mess that he has to clean up," according to the Castanet story here.

His business' problem is being located a block from the homeless shelter.

Very annoying too is Mr. Fehr's comment:  "Fehr said he was disappointed that Sattler posted the incident online and invited the business operator to call him anytime about the matter."

Drug paraphernalia including needles, mattresses and human excrement are common.

Bob Sattler should certainly call Mr. Fehr.
...and invite him to help pick up the needles and excrement the next time it occurs.

"It's a short drive to drop it off at Vernon City Hall," Kia would've said.

I hope Bob's $100 fine from the bylaw officer is cancelled by Mayor Mund.

Risky Creek Clean-up

This group of Coldstream children are doing a great service to the community.

 

But...considering all the recent press about drug paraphernalia (used drug needles) being discovered in Polson Park, the clean-up was remiss in precautions for the youngsters.  This is in addition to the likelihood of the kids stepping in dog poop.

Missing are gloves and boots!

Let's keep these community-minded kids safe!!!

After what seemed like a mini Ice Age this winter.

Huge pine cones were raked to prevent twisted ankles.

Looking southeast, the Coldstream Valley is greening up nicely and the gravel pit is almost finished.

Burning day...lots of smoke unfortunately.  Too much rain recently.

All out of marshmallows...

On a more somber note, Roxanne Ronan was the only member of the public in attendance at Coldstream's Monday council meeting where the Temporary Foreign Workers Housing situation was discussed.

She reports that "the end result is that the bylaw goes to public review and open house unchanged at 40 workers per farm with recommendations on what Kelowna, Westbank, and Summerland are doing.  Public input will be the taken into consideration.    I was the only person in attendance."

We'll see what councillors do to prevent squatter shack trailer-towns popping up.
